Chickpea Imports By India Maintain Strong Tone

PANAMA - Apr 13/20 - SNS -- At this point in the calendar year continued a firmer tone, with chickpea imports by India recorded solid advances, moving upward compared to the previous month in December, according to the latest data from Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics.

Imports reached 54,692 metric tons (MT) during the month, up 27% from the 42,897 MT exported the previous month. Imports so far total 329,226 MT, versus 201,386 during the previous calendar year.

Tanzania was the number one export origin, shipping 26,991 MT. Russia was the second most important supplier supplying 15,341 MT, followed by Turkey at 7,551 MT.
