WASHINGTON - Mar 31/20 - SNS -- Sorghum growers intend to plant 5.82 million acres of sorghum for all purposes in 2020, up 11% from last year, according to the USDA.
Kansas, the leading sorghum producing State, is expecting 8% more sorghum acres in 2020 than last year. Texas growers are expecting to plant 16% more acres in 2020 than last year.
As of March 23, Texas growers had planted 31% of their expected acreage, 1 percentage point ahead of last year and 6 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average.
