Coronavirus May Help Pulse Consumption

PANAMA - Mar 20/20 - SNS -- Pessimism over the potential impact the global coronavirus pandemic may have on field pea consumption is starting to be replaced by modest optimism that global consumption could increase.

There is evidence this is already underway in India. Believing there is a connection between contact with animals and the transmission of the disease, some meat eaters in India have increased pulse consumption.

Traders in that country are closely watching the changes, speculating that if it represents a longer term change, total pulse consumption could climb by 4% per year.
