Frustrating Shipping Season

PANAMA - Feb 28/20 - SNS -- Canadian field pea exporters had experienced frustration moving both containerized and bulk product into port positions because of rail blockades resulting from indigenous opposition to a natural gas pipeline project.

Though blockades were removed on most routes as of February 24, railways say it will take time to get the system running at capacity.

Accumulations of peas in port positions have allowed exporters to cover sales contracts, with enough product remaining in bulk export terminals to meet commitments possible through the middle of March.
