Edible Beans Remain Firm

PANAMA - Feb 28/20 - SNS -- North American dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, helped by issues with quality in parts of the growing area and good ongoing demand from Mexico and other destinations.

The net result was the spot index for dry edible beans in the United States jumped 5.3 points on the week at 159.7, its highest levels since September of 2014.

By contrast, the Canadian pulse prices index slipped 0.5 points on the week to close at 137.1, while the global index dropped 2.1 points to finish at 143.7.
