Mustard Maintains Firm Undertone

PANAMA - Jan 12/20 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets were little changed in relatively light trading interest.

Market sentiment was helped by news the U.S. harvest ended up at 28,840 metric tons (MT), down from 33,250 last year. Residual supplies from the previous marketing year were nominal, with the result available supplies in the United States have dropped from an estimated 37,467 MT to 29,740.

Available supplies of all classes of mustard in Canada and the United States at the start of the 2019-20 marketing year were down 10.4% at 237,040 MT, with stocks of yellow lower than initially expected because there was a smaller than expected shift of land from brown to yellow in Canada.
