Quality Worries Support Beans

PANAMA - Nov 22/19 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, led by white beans and some classes of colored beans.

Significant quality problems are being reported in parts of the United States and Canada, potentially affecting the quantity of medium and small white beans which meet the needs of packagers and some canners.

This was reflected in inter-dealer markets in the United States, with the result its spot index for dry edible beans advancing 0.7 points on the week to close at 129.3. The Canadian pulse prices index inched up 0.5 points on the week to close at 131.1, while the global index also managed a 0.5 gain to finish at 139.3.
