Pea Values Supported by Exports

PANAMA - Oct 4/19 - SNS -- International field pea markets remain relatively firm in spot shipping positions, influenced by relatively strong opening season export movement.

Growers have been responding to spot bid levels. Deliveries into the bulk handling system pushed past one million metric tons (MT) by the end of September as the quantity loaded for bulk export jumped from 354,400 MT last year to 606,200 MT in the first two months of the 2019-20 marketing year.

If the September yield estimates for Canada's crop are accurate, farmers started the season with just over three million MT of peas they would need to sell, compared to 2.82 million last season.
