Grower Sentiment Affects Canaryseed Outlook

PANAMA - Sep 27/19 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets continued to firm during the past week as supplies available from growers dropped behind the short term needs of the market.

Though Canada's canaryseed harvest is advancing at an average pace, with the week starting with 37% in the bin, compared to 32% last year. Another 8% was ready to straight combine and 14% was in swath, while 41% was still standing.

What concerns growers, processors, and exporters is there is little break in the cold and wet harvest conditions affecting Saskatchewan and parts of the United States. These are now being accompanied by frost events, with some areas receiving snow combined with rain.
