Chickpeas Maintain Weak Undertone

PANAMA - Sep 20/19 - SNS -- International chickpea markets finished the week's trading on a relatively weak note as offers from exporters and processors remain ahead of the short term needs of buyers.

Processors and exporters in Canada and the United States remain concerned about this year's yields and quality because of problems with disease in parts of the growing area and the slow pace of the harvest.

As the week got underway, farmers in Saskatchewan had only harvested 9% of this year's crop, compared to 70% by the middle of September last year and the recent average of just over 44%.
