U.S. Bean Condition Slips

WASHINGTON - Aug 26/19 - SNS -- Dry edible bean crop conditions in the United States continued to slip during the past week, judging from state level crop updates from the USDA's NASS.

Limited harvest has been reported, with those states growing more chickpeas than dry edible beans showing the most progress. Idaho reports 16% of the crop is now in the bin, versus 15% last year, while Montana has harvested 21%, down from 34% last year and Oregon reports 6% harvested, compared to 24% last year.

The proportion rated in good condition slipped from 56% to 54%, while crops rated in fair condition advanced from 28% to 30% and crops rated in poor or very poor conditions increased from 15% to 16%. All states for which crop ratings are available account for 84% of the total seeded area.
