VANCOUVER - Aug 1/19 - STAT -- Canada's speciallty crop crop dealer price index finished the 2018-19 marketing year falling 18% below the recent three year average.
For the season just ended, the Special Crop Index was 129 points, compared to an annual average of 158 during the previous three year period for dry edible bean classes included in the index calculation.
Analysis of the monthly price pattern reveals the highest monthly average was 140 points in February, while the lowest monthly average trading level was 122 points in August.
During the latest three year period, the highest monthly average trading level was 167 points in February, compared to the lowest monthly average of 147 points in July.
In the following tables, STAT Market Research shows the historic price patterns seen in Canadian inter-dealer markets. These are most obvious in the first table, which examines monthly averages as a percentage of the annual average return.
The data reveals the monthly average bid during the past marketing year, as well as for the previous three, five, and ten years. We also look at years where production was well below or well above the needs of the market.
