U.S. Beans Remain Mostly Good Condition

WASHINGTON - Jul 23/19 - SNS -- This year's dry edible bean crops are starting to flower and set pods in some states, but are advancing more slowly than in previous years, judging from state level crop updates from the USDA's NASS.

Crops remain in mostly good condition, with 70% rated good to excellent, 25% fair and 5% poor to very poor in those states reported conditions for bean and chickpea crops. All states for which crop ratings are available account for 84% of the total seeded area.

North Dakota is the most important producing state. Crops there have slipped slightly, with percentage rated hood to excellent slipping from 79% to 76%, while crops in rated in far condition inched up from 21% to 22%.
