Mixed Week In Lentils

PANAMA - Jul 19/19 - SNS -- International lentil markets closed the week on a mixed note, with Canadian exporters mostly withdrawn in new crop shipping positions while their counterparts in the United States and Russia remain active.

Concern over the condition of the Canadian crop and prospective yields has most processors and exporters adopting a defensive pricing posture.

Between July 1 and July 18, the proportion of Saskatchewan's lentil crop rated in poor or very poor condition slipped from 10% to 7%, while the percentage rated fair dropped from 42% to 35%, and the proportion rated good to excellent jumped from 48% to 58%.
