Rye Seedings Advance 4%

WASHINGTON - Jun 28/19 - SNS -- The 2019 planted area for rye is estimated at 1.88 million acres, up 4% from 2018 for comparable States, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2019.

Harvested area is expected to total 298,000 acres, up 22% from last year for comparable States. In Oklahoma, 55% of the rye crop was harvested by June 23, thirty-seven percentage points behind the previous year.

Beginning in 2019, rye estimates were discontinued in Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Virginia.
