Birdseeds Helped By Outside Markets
PANAMA - Jun 1/19 - SNS --North American birdseed ingredient markets were somewhat firmer on the week, helped by underlying strength in grains and oilseeds.
Markets for white proso millet reversed recent declines in both grower and inter-dealer markets. By contrast, Canadian canaryseed remained nominally unchanged with available supplies from growers and processors in line with the short term needs of exporters and packagers.
Seeding of this year's canaryseed crop is advancing at an above average pace, with around 89% in the ground as of May 27, compared to the recent five year average of 79%, but down from the 94% sown by the same time last year.
