India's Lentil Imports Open With Strong Note

PANAMA - May 15/19 - SNS -- India's imports of lentils during February jumped compared to the previous month, according to data from Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics.

Imports totalled 33,319 metric tons (MT) during the month, up 45% from the 22,967 MT shipped the previous month. Imports so far total 56,285 MT, compared to 45,522 in the same period the previous calendar year.

Canada was the biggest supplier for the month, shipping 29,794 MT. United States was the second most important export origin supplying 1,886 MT, followed by Australia at 1,446 MT.
