India's Chickpea Imports Open On Soft Tone

PANAMA - May 15/19 - SNS -- India's imports of chickpeas in February fell versus the previous month, judging from data from Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics.

Total imports throughout the month reached 22,003 metric tons (MT), down 23% from the previous month's total of 28,681. So far imports have amounted to 50,684 MT, down from 78,720 during the previous calendar year.

Current trade data reported Tanzania was number one exporter, selling 6,345 MT in the month. Myanmar was the second most important exporter selling 3,310 MT, followed by Russia at 3,254 MT.
