China's Sunflower Seed Imports Open With Strong Note

PANAMA - Apr 14/19 - SNS -- Are starting the current calendar year on a a firmer tendency, with sunflower seed imports by China recorded minorimprovement, inching up compared to the previous month in January, judging from official data from General Customs Administration of China.

Imports during the opening month of the calendar year totalled 40,220 metric tons (MT), up 2% from 39,293 MT the previous month. The statistics showed imports was up 59% from the 25,359 MT recorded for the same month last year.

Kazakhstan was the largest shipper for the month, selling 34,693 MT. Russia was the second most important exporter selling 3,536 MT, followed by Bulgaria at 1,991 MT.
