China's Sunflower Seed Exports Start With Firm Note

PANAMA - Apr 14/19 - SNS -- Opened the calendar year on a a stronger tendency, with sunflower seed shipments for China made modest gains, rising relative to the previous month in January, judging from statistics from General Customs Administration of China.

Exports during the opening month of the calendar year totalled 66,215 metric tons (MT), up 15% from 57,674 MT the previous month. The statistics showed movement was up 20% from the 55,244 MT recorded for the same month last year.

Recent trade data showed Turkey was largest buyer, taking 16,259 MT for the month. Egypt was the second most important importer taking 14,257 MT, followed by Vietnam at 7,604 MT.
