Modest Firmness in Beans

PANAMA - Apr 5/19 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets posted a mixed finish during the past week, with exporters reporting a modest improvement in trading levels for some classes of colored beans.

Even so, the U.S. spot index for beans finished the week unchanged at 116.1 points. By contrast, the Canadian pulse price index lost 1.0 points to finish at 128.2, while the world pulse price index ended 1.8 points lower to close at 136.7 on weakness in other categories of pulses.

There was a modest improvement in spot demand from Brazil, which helped lift trading levels for Argentine black beans delivered to the border and asking prices in European markets.
