Chickpeas Maintain Easy Tone

PANAMA - Apr 5/19 - SNS -- International chickpea markets were little changed in the past week, though easing demand has resulted in weakness in the Australian desi chickpea markets.

Grower bids in that country peaked at U.S. $647 per metric ton (MT) in the middle of December, but have since collapsed to $453 MT for farmers dressed product delivered to bulk handlers.

Exports for the first four months of Australia's 2018-19 marketing year now total just 142,244 MT, down from just over 401,000 during the same period last season.
