More Sunflower Acres But Supply Questions
PANAMA - Mar 29/19 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets posted a mixed finish in response to this year's USDA seeding intentions report.
Farmers in that country intend to increase total area in sunflower 4% to 1.35 million acres. Land in oil type sunflower could increase 3% from 1.16 to 1.2 million acres, while land in confection sunflower could jump 9% from 137,000 to 150,000 acres.
While the confection sunflower number is in line with trade expectations, new crop bids for large confection sunflower have risen to a premium to spot, while small confection bids are the same for current and new crop product.
