Chickpea Imports By India Record Improved Result

PANAMA - Mar 28/19 - SNS -- So far during the current calendar year revealed a better performance, with chickpea imports by India posted major gains, moving upward compared to the previous month in December, judging from official data from Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics.

Total imports throughout the month amounted to 25,121 metric tons (MT), up 24% from the previous month's total of 20,235. So far imports have reached 200,982 MT, down from 1,554,482 in the same period the previous calendar year.

In the month, Sudan was the top export origin, shipping 8,977 MT. Tanzania was the second most important supplier supplying 4,615 MT, followed by Myanmar at 3,879 MT.
