Mixed Week For Beans

PANAMA - Mar 15/19 - SNS -- Dry edible beans finished the week's trading on a quiet note, with exporters in many reporting limited short term demand for most classes of product.

This was reflected in the U.S. spot index for beans, which slipped 0.1 points on the week to finish at 115.3 points. By contrast, the Canadian pulse price index lost 1.3 points to finish at 135.1, while the world pulse price index ended 1.6 points lower to close at 143.7.

While internal North American demand remains relatively good, buying in other parts of the world remains relatively light, with the result some exporters in China and Argentina are becoming more aggressive with their pricing in an effort to clear inventory.
