Lentil TSeedings Should Slide
PANAMA - Jan 18/19 - SNS -- In its latest monthly review of Canadian lentils Agriculture Canada's market analysis branch in Winnipeg issued its first forecast of seeded area and production for the 2019-20 marketing year. The forecasts are not based on surveys of growers.
It predicts lentil production will total 2.0 million MT from 1.35 million hectares, compared to 2.092 million MT from 1.525 million hectares last year.
Agriculture Canada forecasts exports will reach 1.8 million MT in 2019-20, compared to 1.7 million this season and 1.537 million MT the previous marketing year. Domestic use is forecast at 485,000 MT in the coming marketing year, versus 484,000 this season.
