Brazil Pumps Up Black Beans

PANAMA - Jan 18/19 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, with exporters reporting relatively good demand from some destinations.

Brazil remains a focal point over the short term. While expecting a bumper harvest in March and April, the crop harvested in December was small, resulting in strong demand for black beans from Argentina.

That has resulted in dramatic increases for product delivered to the Brazilian border and narrowing of price spreads between Argentina and other origins.
