Improved Exports Support Lentils

PANAMA - Jan 11/19 - SNS -- Lentil markets maintained their relatively firm tone, helped by a strong opening season export pace and a relatively positive demand outlook.

By the end of November, Canada's lentil exports pushed ahead of last year, totalling just over 588,000 metric tons (MT) between August and November, compared to around 510,000 during the same period last season.

A large part of the increase is accounted for by demand for bulk lentil cargoes. As of January 6, the quantity of lentils for bulk shipment by terminal and primary elevators was just over double last year at 239,300 MT.
