Firmer Week in Mustard Seed

PANAMA - Jan 11/19 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets finished the week on a firmer note as supplies available from growers inched behind the short term needs of processors and exporters.

Oriental showed the most strength, with grower bids advancing 5% on the week to U.S. $433 per metric ton (MT) for farmers dressed quality delivered western Canadian processing plants. Even so, bids remain well off their September high of $496 MT.

Prices paid to yellow mustard seed growers finished the week gaining 4% to range up to $599 MT, matching its September highs. Brown mustard posted modest gains, rising 1% to close the week at $516 MT, well below its season high of $561.
