Firm Undertone in Birdseeds
PANAMA - Jan 4/19 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets started the new year on a relatively firm note, helped by a strong finish for grains and oilseeds.
New crop markets were more subdued with exporters and processors waiting for grower reaction to initial price indications for Canadian canaryseed and other ingredients.
There is a general expectation land in canaryseed and sunflower will be up over this year, though supply and demand fundamentals are expected to remain in enough balance to prevent a bear market from developing unless growers expand area more than expected.
