Firm Tone in Birdseeds
PANAMA - Dec 14/18 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets continued to firm during the past week, led by solid improvements in white proso millet seed trading levels in the United States.
Grower and inter-dealer markets in parts of the United States jumped 9% on the week, lifting inter-dealer markets for bulk product over U.S. $12 per 100 pounds for the first time since August of 2013.
Since the start of the marketing year, inter-dealer markets for bulk millet have averaged U.S. $9.80 per 100 pounds, compared to $7.48 last season and $6.34 in 2016-17.
