Mustard Markets Continue to Ease

PANAMA - Nov 23/18 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets finished the week's trading on a generally easier note, reflecting lower average trading levels for brown and oriental.

Grower bids in Canada were sharply lower, dropping 7% to range up to U.S. $485 per metric ton (MT), while oriental slipped 2% to $460 and yellow was unchanged at $570 MT for farmers dressed product delivered western Canadian processing plants.

Markets received independent confirmation of this year's expansion in seeded area from crop insurance data compiled by the Canadian Grain Commission. It shows farmers in western Canada increased insured area 24% to roughly 315,000 acres, while Statistics Canada initially pegged seeded area at 503,800 acres, up 30% from last year.
