Peas Movement Slow But Not Worrisome

PANAMA - Oct 22/18 - SNS -- Canadian field pea exports are starting the current marketing year at a significantly slower pace than last year.

This is evident in grower deliveries into the bulk handling system, with 13% of this year's harvest delivered by the middle of October, compared to 20% over the same 11 week period last year.

India's quantitative restrictions on pea imports is the reason movement is down. Those have been extended until the end of the calendar year and could be further extended if it appears pulse production will be maintained in that country's coming rabi production season.
