PANAMA - Oct 5/18 - SNS -- Updated provincial yields estimates continue to push lentil production the wrong direction from the perspective of some market participants.
Based on reports from regional crop reporters. Saskatchewan Agriculture upgraded its yield estimate to 1,343 pounds per acre, compared to Statistics Canada initial estimate that yields in the province would reach 1,289 pounds.
If the provincial estimates are more accurate, Canada's harvest will come in closer to 2.38 million metric tons (MT), 7% above the latest official forecast of a 2.23 million MT crop.
