WASHINGTON - Sep 28/18 - SNS -- Production of spring wheat other than durum totalled 623 million bushels this year, up 50% from the revised 2017 total of 415 million bushels, according to the USDA's annual small grains production report.
Harvested area totaled 12.9 million acres, up 27% from 2017. The United States yield was estimated at a record high 48.3 bushels per acre, 7.3 bushels above 2017. Record high yields were estimated in Idaho and North Dakota for 2018. Of the total production, 587 million bushels were Hard Red Spring wheat, up 53% from the revised 2017 total.
