Farmers Struggle With Remaining Harvest

REGINA - Sep 27/18 - SNS -- Farmers in Saskatchewan are struggling to harvest crops remaining in their fields because of cool and wet weather conditions the past two weeks.

So far, 68% of all crops planted in the province have been harvested, ahead of the recent five year average of 64%. The southeastern region has 87% combined, the west-central 59% and the east-central region 58% combined. The northeastern region has 34% combined, while the northwestern region has 27% combined.

However, quality will suffer in crops which have not been harvested, asserts Saskatchewan Agriculture in its latest crop progress report. Rain was recorded throughout most of the province through the week. Up to 15 cm of snow was reported in some areas in the central regions.
