U.S. Bean Harvest Two Thirds Complete

WASHINGTON - Sep 25/18 - SNS -- Roughly two thirds of the dry edible beans and chickpeas that will be produced this year are now in the bin in the United States.

Reports from NASS state offices suggest the chickpea harvest is the most advanced, though a significant portion of this year's dry edible bean crop is now in the bin.

North Dakota is the most important bean producing state and 86% of the crop has been harvested, compared to 56% at this time last year and the recent five year average of 53%. Minnesota is also reporting above average progress, with 82% of the crop in the bin, compared to 65% last year and the recent average of 57%.
