Pulse Harvest Nears Completion

REGINA - Sep 13/18 - SNS -- This year's harvest continued to make good progress in Saskatchewan despite deteriorating weather conditions, judging from the latest crop progress report from Saskatchewan Agriculture.

Most of the crop was harvested with few weather interruptions, with the result the proportion of the pea and lentil crops falling in the top two grades is similar to last year and well above the recent five year average. This could change slightly as the remaining fields are experiencing wet harvest conditions.

Almost 60% of all field crops are now in the bin in province and 28% is now swathed or ready to straight-cut. But, rain showers toward the end of the past week slowed down field progress, particularly in the eastern and northern regions, where the majority of the rain was recorded.
