No Surprise in Lentil Stocks

PANAMA - Sep 7/18 - SNS -- International lentil markets were not surprised by Canada's ending stock estimate for the country's 2017-18 marketing year, paying more attention to brisk opening season export movement.

Data from the Canadian Grain Commission reveals 73,400 metric tons (MT) of bulk product was loaded for export in August, suggesting it could be the best start to the shipping campaign since 2014 when export clearances topped 137,000 MT.

Reports of widespread frost in western Canada during the past week also had no impact on markets. The harvest was 83% complete by the time the frost hit, with only 8% of the crop still standing. Another 8% was ready to straight combine and 1% was in swath.
