Movement Supports Peas

PANAMA - Aug 3/18 - SNS -- North American field pea markets were little changed in the past week, continuing to find support by relatively strong export movement.

Unofficial data from the Canadian Grain Commission reveals 207,900 metric tons (MT) of peas were loaded for bulk export during July, while the month ended with 267,200 MT of product on hand in the bulk handling system.

Grower deliveries remain relatively strong, reflecting efforts to clear bin space for the harvest which is now underway. Roughly 2% of the Saskatchewan field pea crop was in the bin by week's end. farmers in the United States are also harvesting peas, with 1% of Idaho's crop now in the bin, compared to 44% of Washington State's. The harvest in Idaho was 83% complete, compared to 19% in Montana and 10% in North Dakota.
