Weaker Tone in Lentils

PANAMA - Jul 20/18 - SNS -- International lentil markets finished the week's trading on a weaker note as selling interest in both spot and new crop shipping positions remains ahead of active buying interest.

Supply fundamentals for the coming marketing year continue to look negative despite indications there is a significant risk that yields in Canada will be at least 10% below their recent five year average.

More importantly, if the seeded area estimates are accurate, yields may need to drop 30% or more below last year to reduce available supplies to levels which may result in a stocks to use ratio under 10%.
