Heat Worries in Lentils

PANAMA - Jul 6/18 - SNS -- North American lentil markets finished the week little changed in limited trading interest in both spot and new crop shipping positions.

Markets are typically quiet for much of July and August because it is the summer holiday season in the northern hemisphere. Many buyers also prefer to watch crops develop rather than react to week to week changes in conditions.

A significant part of the crop is flowering at a time when most of Saskatchewan is experiencing days with extreme heat and limited shower activity. This creates a risk that some flowers will abort, reducing the yield potential of fields.
