WASHINGTON - Jun 29/18 - SNS -- This year's lentil plantings plunged 29% in the United States to 789,000 acres, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for this year.
Area forecasted to be harvested, at 752,000 acres, is down 26% from the 2017 season. All estimating States (Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, and Washington) planted acreage is down from the previous year. In Montana, as of June 24, blooming reached 22% which was 17 percentage points below the 5-year average.
