Little Movement in Chickpeas

PANAMA - Jun 15/18 - SNS -- The world's chickpea markets showed little movement in price during the past week, with values supported by a relatively tight supply outlook for large caliber product from Mexico.

Supplies of small and medium caliber chickpeas will increase significantly after the North American and eastern European harvests, but those values continue to find support from large caliber kabuli types.

Australian desi chickpeas, by contrast, were supported by a reported drop in seeded area from 1.12 million to 528,000 hectares, the lowest seeded area since 2013 and 2014.
