Half U.S. Pea Crop Planted

WASHINGTON - May 15/18 - SNS -- Field pea seeding progress continues advance at a below average pace, but available data suggests over half the intended crop is now in the ground.

Conditions are warming up in Montana and allowing fieldwork to progress. Topsoil moisture conditions for the state were 80% adequate to surplus, below last year’s 88%. Subsoil moisture conditions were 70% adequate to surplus which is below last year’s 92%.

Topsoil moisture conditions in North Dakota are rated 12% very short, 35% short, 50% adequate, and 3% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 15% very short, 36% short, 47% adequate, and 2% surplus.
