India Restricts Pea Imports

DELHI - Apr 25/18 - SNS -- Imports of yellow peas will be limited to a maximum of 100,000 metric tons (MT) through June 30.

The restrictions take effect April 1. The total does not include any cargoes which arrived in India before April 25 and "those shipments backed by irrevocable commercial letter of credit and advance payment through the banking channel" before April 25.

The official notice said "both these categories will be required to be registered with jurisdictional regional authority as per Paragraph 1.05 of Foreign Trade Policy, 2015-20."

The notice added, "Import policy of yellow pea under exim code 0713 1000 is revised from free to restricted for a period of three month only." This implies shipments of dunn and green peas are not affected.
