Pea Market Getting Complicated
PANAMA - Feb 16/18 - SNS -- International field pea markets were generally unchanged during the past week.
Seeding of this year's rabi season pulses crops appears to be complete in India, with land in all pulses reaching a record 16.91 million hectares, versus 16.19 million last year.
Field peas are bought as a cheap substitute for domestic desi chickpeas. However, the combination of high import duties and the risk India will not allow imports that have not been fumigated with methyl bromide during the last half of the year limits the demand potential for the crop at current prices.
