Record Weekly Rabi Seeding Progress
PANAMA - Dec 15/17 - SNS -- India's farmers planted a higher than average amount of pulses during the past week, with the result land in these commodities is at a record high for the middle of December.
During the week, farmers planted 1,057,000 hectares, compared to 729,000 during the same week last year, and ahead of the recent five-year average for the past week of 599,800 hectares.
Land in all rabi season pulses totals 13.8 million so far this season, compared to 12.7 million at this time last year and the recent average of 12.58 million.
