WASHINGTON - Aug 10/17 - SNS -- United States grape production for 2017 is forecast at 7.50 million tons, down 2% from last year, according to the latest USDA production estimate's of the season.
California leads the Nation in grape production with 88% of the total. Washington and New York are the next largest producing States, with 6% and 2%, respectively.
California's wine type grape production is forecast at 4.00 million tons, down slightly from 2016, and represents 61% of California's total grape crop.
California's raisin type grape production is forecast at 1.45 million tons, down 6% from last year, and represents 22% of California's total grape crop.
California's table type grape production is forecast at 1.15 million tons, down slightly from the previous year.
