Rising Mustard Residuals
PANAMA - Aug 6/17 - SNS -- The 2016-17 marketing year ended with 11,600 metric tons (MT) of mustard seed in the bulk handling system, up from 5,300 last year.
The total does not include product in processing plants or on farms, but is a clear indication that ending stocks are up over last season.
This year's significant reduction in seeded area suggests farmers are holding substantial inventories, with land in the crop dropping back to those farmers with strong relationships with processors.
